I spent part of last week in Moscow, where I spoke at the Skolkovo LegalTech conference. I discovered that Russia has a vibrant emerging market of legal tech startups, several of them incubated within the Skolkovo Innovation Center, the massive, government-funded tech incubator where the conference was held.
But I also found that adoption of these emerging technologies by legal practitioners is lagging. Law firms and courts alike have been slow to adopt legal technologies. The one place where technology adoption is growing is within corporate legal departments.
I’ve written a report on what I saw and learned in Russia for my column this week at Above the Law. Find it here: Dispatch From Russia: Legal Tech Startups Emerge, But Adoption Lags.
