I am no stranger to podcasting. Lawyer 2 Lawyer, the podcast I cohost with J. Craig Williams and which is produced by the Legal Talk Network, will mark its 13th anniversary next month, and is the longest-running podcast in law. I have also been cohosting another Legal Talk Network, Law Technology Now, along with Monica Bay.
But I’ve been itching to launch a podcast of my own and am finally taking the plunge. It is called LawNext, and my focus will be interviews with the innovators and entrepreneurs who are driving what’s next in the legal industry. From legal technology startups to new law firm business models to enhancing access to justice, I hope to explore the future of law and legal practice.
I hope to produce new episodes weekly-ish. (I’m aiming for weekly, but my schedule may not always cooperate.) When possible, I will highlight people or companies in the news that week. I’ll try to keep the episodes fairly short and easily digestible.
For now, you can find the podcast in the iTunes store or at Libsyn. You can subscribe to receive future episodes at either site. Soon, I’ll be launching a website for the podcast at lawnext.com.
We will also be accepting sponsorships. If you’re interesting in learning more about, let me know.
My First Guest: Nicole Bradick
I am very pleased and honored to kick off my first episode with guest Nicole Bradick. A veteran legal technology innovator and entrepreneur, Nicole is CEO of Theory and Principle, the technology design and development company she founded last January.
Formerly partner and chief strategy officer with legal-technology development firm CuroLegal, Bradick is a 2014 Fastcase 50 honoree, recognizing “the law’s smartest, most courageous innovators, techies, visionaries, and leaders,” and was profiled by the ABA Journal as a Legal Rebel in 2012.
In this inaugural episode of LawNext, I talk with Nicole about technology development and design, what makes legal technology “bad” or “good,” the process of developing technology from problem to prototype, and why Nicole believes technology is not the answer to all of our problems.
