I spent the last week at ILTACON, the annual conference of the International Legal Technology Association. It was a massive conference. Not sure if this is correct, but someone told me that the attendance exceeded 4,000. There were nearly 200 exhibitors and close to that many educational sessions.

Over the next couple days, I will recap some of the legal technology news that came out of the conference, starting with an exclusive that has not yet been publicly announced.

The BakerManage process.

I learned that LawBase, the case and matter management system (see my review here), signed a deal last week to integrate BakerManage, the legal project management system developed by the law firm Baker Donelson.

At ILTACON, I spoke with Phil Homburger, LawBase president, who told me that BakerManage will become available as a module within the LawBase system, to be known as LawBase Powered By BakerManage. The integration will enable project-management workflows within LawBase in order to enhance the planning and budgeting of legal matters.

Baker Donelson developed the patent-pending BakerManage system in 2012 as a way to “reconnect value with the cost of legal services. It creates a workflow that divides the management of a legal matter into three phases: Project Development, Project Execution and Project Closure.

I hope to report more details about this integration in the near future.
